Beginning March 1, 2015 all Texas residents will now only need one sticker on the vehicle windshield.
Prior to today, Texas drivers were required to have an inspection sticker and a registration sticker. Beginning today those two stickers will be conolidated to one.
This is how the law will go into effect: when you are due for an inspection, instead of a sticker, you’ll receive a paper that verifies you passed your inspection. When it is time to renew your registration, you will take that paper and proof of insurance to receive a new sticker.
The new sticker serves as proof for both registration and inspection.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the change from two stickers to one saves the state $2 million dollars.
