wildcat logoThe Paris varsity soccer teams again posted District 11-4A shutouts over Bonham Tuesday night at Warrior Stadium.

The Lady Cats posted a 3-0 win in the first end of the doubleheader.  Freshman Katy Hall scored twice, assisted by senior Juliana Clipson and junior Monica Silva.  Sophomore Tieren Gates added an unassisted goal.

The Paris girls will play their final scheduled home match at Wildcat Stadium Friday when they host the district-leading Princeton Lady Panthers on Senior Night.  The varsity will play first at 5:30 p.m. followed by the JV match.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats breezed to a 4-0 win in the nitecap, thanks to a natural hat trick by senior midfielder Edgar Alvarez.  They started quickly, just 3:45 into the match with Alvarez’s first goal, assisted by senior Alain Garcia.

Alvarez made it 2-0 at the 26:40 mark when sophomore Colin Harris sent a ball that split two defenders forward to Alvarez for the finisher.  The third Alvarez goal came from a blast from 40 yards out and made it a 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half junior Roberto Luna finished the scoring on a 35-yard shot.

The Paris defense would allow just one shot on goal thanks to the play of seniors Leonel Gutierrez, Adrian Vasquez, Jose Escobedo, and Matt McAmisGoalkeepers Cade Blackmon and Jeffrey White split duty for the shutout.

Offensively, junior Justin Mitchell, senior Scott Gilbert, and senior Abraham Castillo were cited by coach Jeremy Beshirs for their play along with other players off the bench.

The win gives Paris a perfect 12 points in district and clinches no worse than a tie with two matches remaining.  The Cats travel to 6th-ranked Princeton Friday for a JV/varsity doubleheader.
