While Paris Dragons hung tough on Tuesday, Tyler Junior College pulled away late for the 11-4 victory at Tyler TX.
Tyler Junior College was sparked by Hickman and Quick, who teamed up for five hits and five RBIs.
Cameron Copeland couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Paris Dragons, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
Tyler Junior College never trailed after scoring two runs in the first on an RBI single by Quick.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the fourth, Paris Dragons faced just a 3-1 deficit. A sacrifice fly by Logan Sepanek fueled Paris Dragons’ comeback. But, Merkel got Andrew Healy to ground out to end the inning.
Tyler Junior College answered Paris Dragons’ top inning with three runs of its own in the fourth. Tyler Junior College scored on a two-run triple by Hickman.
Two Paris Dragons runs crossed the plate in the top half of the fifth, making the score 5-3. A two-run double by Ryan Robertson set off Paris Dragons rally. Finally, #25 got Garret Dodd to strike out to end the threat.
Tyler Junior College added three more runs in the bottom of the seventh. The inning looked promising, as D. Clemons doubled, bringing home Quick to kick things off.
