United Way of Lamar CountyThe Annual Campaign for the United Way will be kicking off soon.  The Lamar County United Way has a goal this year to raise $600,000.

The board is committed to the phrase, “Raised here! Stays Here!” meaning that  100% of the $600,000 goal stays here in Lamar County.

100% of the 2016 $600,000 goal has been award to the following twenty-one local agencies:

American Red Cross; Big Brother Big Sister; Boy Scouts NETSEO; Boys & Girls Club; Children’s Advocacy Center; Dylan’s Drivers; ETCADA; Girl Scouts NETX; Habitat for Humanity; Imagination Library; Innovative Enterprises; LC Child Welfare Board; LC Coalition of Education, Business & Industry; LC Human Resource Council; LC Literacy Council; New Hope Center; RRV Down Syndrome Society; RSVP; SAFE-T; Kings Daughters and Sons; and the Salvation Army.

The overhead/operating expense for the Lamar County United Way is only 13%, which is very low for a non-profit. Furthermore, the review panel is comprised completely of local citizens. It is the local citizens who decide which agencies will be awarded grants.
