Shirley Sue Jones, 66, precious mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was released from her earthly body, March 2, 2014.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Little Vine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the funeral home, and will gather at other times at the home of her sister, Rose Kernell, 835 Bunker St.
Mrs. Jones, the daughter of Alfred C. and Gladys Bridgers Melton, and Jack Allen, was born August 8, 1947, in Sumner, TX. She was a retired nurse from Paris Regional Medical Center after 30 years of dedicated service to others. She attended The Paris Church of God. She was always looking out for others more than herself. She never turned her back on anyone that needed her. When she didn’t have a grandbaby on her knee, she had a book in her hand. Her son, David, gave her a Kindle so she was never without a book. She loved the many trips taken with her sisters. They just recently visited the various places of her childhood in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Jones, her parents, a granddaughter, Heather Ann Lawler, her sister, Sylvia “Katy” Whitaker, one brother, Clifford “Bo” Melton, and nephew Andy Sikes.
Left on earth to cherish her memory include her 5 children, Monica Lawler and husband Greg of Idabel, OK, David Whitaker and wife Deneen of Powderly, Sean Whitaker and wife Kimberly of Azle, Kathy Gentle of Paris and Mark Whitaker and wife Alicia of Tyler, a son-in-law William Gentle, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, Rose Kernell and Donna Lee of Paris, Joann Wintermute and Deborah McFatridge of Faught, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Eric Whitaker, Kaleb Whitaker, Aaron Lawler, Brian Lawler, Josh Payne, Justin Payne, Jason Payne, and Coby Whitaker. Honorary Pallbearers will be her nephews: Richard Sikes, Gerald Beshirs Jr., Billy Lee, Kristopher Melton, and Clay Grose.
Shirley made a lasting mark in all our hearts. Our grief is only lessened because she is with our Savior, Jesus Christ.

ROY E. DUNKEN, 68, of Paris, died at 9:30 PM, Friday, February 28, 2014 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 6, 2014 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. Burial will be in the Goodland Cemetery in Oklahoma. The family will gather with friends and family immediately following the service.
Roy was born February 5, 1946 in Paris to Roy James and Edith Lucille Spencer Dunken. He married Laura Nell Roden on December 4, 1972 in Hugo. She died January 4, 2008. He was a man of many talents and abilities working hard for his family at many trades including being a mechanic.
He is survived by two daughters, Maudie Lucille Dunken-Partridge and Tanya Mariea Dunken; four grandchildren, Bradley Wade, Skylar Nicole, Zachary Zane Dunken, and Hallie Lynn Partridge; and four brothers, Hubert, John, Jeff, and Lonnie Dunken. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sarah Preston; and one brother, James Wesley Booth.
