Cast members from North Lamar’s theatre production of Mary Poppins will be collecting new and unwrapped toys for the local Toys for Tots Program. Toys with a value of $10 or more will be the means of purchase for a chance to win Mary Poppins’ parrot umbrella.
“We’re excited to give back in this unique way,” said NLHS Theatre Director Cody Head. “The ‘A-Toy-A-Ticket’ toy drive sounded like a fun way for North Lamar’s Theatre Department to involve our captured audiences and do something that helps the less fortunate children in our community.”
The Toys for Tots Program is a mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve. Their goal is to collect and distribute new toys as Christmas gifts for the less fortunate children in the community with the expectation of sending joy and a message of hope to the youngsters.
Toys may be given to any Mary Poppins’ cast member or dropped off during any performance. Dates and times of the play are November 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. or November 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the NLHS Auditorium. The drawing for Mary’s umbrella will follow Sunday’s performance along with the presentation of the toys to Gunnery Sergeant John O’Donnell of the U. S. Marine Corps.
Tickets for the play are $10 for general admission or $20 for reserve and may be purchased by calling 903.737.2003 ext.1030 or 903.737.2003 ext. 4051
