Rhodes0001Charles Jerry Rhodes, 71, of Paris, Texas, went to dwell within the everlasting embrace of our Heavenly Father on Friday, September 19, 2014, after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by his beloved family.

The family has scheduled memorial services for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23rd, at East Paris Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Edwards officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall of East Paris Baptist Church. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.

As a man of God, Charlie faithfully attended services at East Paris Baptist Church, where he was a member. In particular, he enjoyed the connection of his Men’s 222 Sunday School Class and the Friday Morning Men’s Bible Study. He was an example of God’s grace and strength until the end of his life.

With faithfulness to God as his first priority, family and friends fell to a close second. He married Patsy Carol Dunn, also of Paris, on July 3, 1970. They were wed 44 years and had one daughter, Christi Rhodes Poulter, of Austin, Texas

His greatest joy came from watching the growth and development of his grandchildren, 3 boys, who gave him unending laughter.

After working at Campbell Soup in Paris, Texas for 38 years, Charlie had a wonderful network of friends with whom he spent his retirement years. With his best buddies, he loved playing golf and having coffee each morning at McDonald’s. These fine men gave him much laughter and support each day.

Charlie will be remembered for his beautiful booming laugh, as a faithful servant to God, as a doting husband, father, and “Papa Charlie”, and as a master of the grill.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Rhodes, daughter, Christi Poulter & husband John, grandsons, Cole Patrick Poulter, Christian Fox Poulter and Aidan Reece Poulter, cousins, Lloydette Daniels, Barbara Spencer, Becky Robertson, Smitty Ribble, Rowena Baker and Randy McAdams, along with several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to East Paris Baptist Church (Vision Fund), 725 N. Collegiate Dr., Paris, TX 75460.
