49 year old Brian Alson Babb of Bogata was arrested at about 7:49 P.M. on September 28, 2014 after it was reported that the vehicle that he was driving had struck another vehicle in the 3000 block of NE Loop 286 and had left the scene.
A second caller advised that they had observed Babb’s vehicle strike the guard rail on the overpass at Clarksville Street.
Officers located the vehicle stopped in the 5000 block of Clarksville Street. Officers report that Babb was found to be extremely intoxicated. Babb was charged with driving while intoxicated, accident involving damage to a vehicle with more than $200 damage, and duty on striking structure, fixture or highway landscaping.
It was later determined that Babb had at least two previous convictions for driving while intoxicated and therefore, this charge was enhanced to a felony.
Babb was not injured in the accidents and was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
