Betty BrunsonBetty L. Brunson, 72, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22nd, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Fortenberry & Rev. Wayne Blackshear officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Betty, the daughter of Charles Jennings & Jewel Fay Morris Baughman, was born Dec. 11, 1940, in Paris. She was known as wife, mother, & Nana and loved most of all being with her kids. No one could cook as good as Nana. She loved to travel and camp with all their friends. She loved working in the yard and playing a good game of cards.

Betty was a stay-at-home mom, always tending to family until the kids were old enough for school. Then she started to work at Metro Nursery & Lamar Gardens and later kept books for the family business. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by twin sons, Richard & Randy Brunson, her mother, Jewel Ennis, her father, Charles Baughman, & her step-father, Bob Ennis.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Neal Brunson, daughter, Robin Phillips & husband John, son, Rodney Brunson & wife Tammie, grandchildren, Amanda Brown & husband Chad, Nicole Williams & husband Bryan, and Brandon Phillips, great grandchildren, Alexis Roberts, Nick Brown, Eli Cobb and Jeremy Brown, sister, Barbara Ross & husband Joe, dear cousins, Mary Self and Martha Hutchison and her loving dog, Peanut.

Casket bearers will be: Charles Adkins, Chad Brown, Joel Hutchison, Bryan Williams, Brandon Phillips and Jeremy Brown.

Jean Holt0001Jean Boggan Holt, 90, of the Howland Community, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013.

The family will receive friends at Bright-Holland Funeral Home on Thursday, February 21st, from 6 – 7 p.m.  Mrs. Holt will then be transferred to Des Arc, Arkansas for services and burial in Welcome Home Cemetery.

Mrs. Holt, the daughter of Troy Pet Boggan & Lillie Mae Story, was born June 29, 1922, in Des Arc, AR. She graduated from Griffithville High School and attended business school in Little Rock. Later she became a nurse and worked in Jacksonville, AR and Tucson, AZ before becoming a nursing home administration in west Texas.

She moved to Paris twenty-five years ago. Active in AARP until her last illness, she had served as its Vice President. She also worked for Green Thumb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Herchel Holt in 1965, son, James Richard Holt who was killed in the Vietnam War in 1966, son, Kenneth Wayne Holt in 2011, four brothers, Clarence Boggan, Bill Boggan, Tommy Boggan and Bob Boggan, and two sisters, Mamie Phillips and Mattie Duncan.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Jones & husband Carl of Howland, four grandsons, Ronald Jones of Howland, Richard Jones & Sharla of Paris, Max Holt & wife Jennifer of Powderly and Rocky Holt & wife Bianca of Reno, seven great grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Troy, Steffany, Clayton, Katelyn and Emilee, one great great grandson, Levi, a sister, Melba O’Brien of Russellville, AR, a brother, Jimmy Boggan & wife Joan of Forest City, AR, a sister-in-law, Verna Boggan of Jacksonville, AR along with several nieces & nephews.
