Victor Wade Foster, 80, of Direct passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be held at Belk United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17 with Rev. Mark Hutchison and Drethia Parsons officiating. Cremation arrangements were made with Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
Victor was born April 14, 1934 in Ragtown, a son of Arlie and Frances Parsons Foster. He graduated from Chicota High School and Paris Junior College. Nell Orendorff Foster was the mother of his children. He married Myrna McEwin Hutchison at Belk United Methodist Church on October 2, 2010. He was employed at UARCO and later as a Federal Crop Adjuster with the USDA. He served his country proudly in the Army and was a member of Belk United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Vickie Haywood.
He is survived by his wife Myrna; children, Ronnie Foster and Sheri Garrett; grandchildren, Brian Garrett, Kote Terry, Harrison Foster, Paige Foster Pena; great grandchildren, Joseph Garrett, Carolyn Kay Garrett, Connor Foster, Brayden Pena, and Paisley Meadows; brother Eldon Foster and wife Becky and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eula Martha Strom died on the morning of 12 October 2014. She was a resident of Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Health Care. She was married to Gordon B. Strom, Sr. for sixty-eight years. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother, friend, and provider. She is preceded in death by one son, James Edward and her husband Gordon. She is survived by her son, Gordon Bert Strom, Jr. MD and his wife Sandra and by her grandchildren: Kelly and her husband Ben and four great grandchildren (Nathan, Andrew, Katie, and Gracelyn George), Paul and his wife Jennifer and great grandchildren Taylor and Evan, and Jordan and her husband Alex and great grandchild Judah.
Martha was originally from Port Neches, Texas, where she attended elementary school. After the death of her father, she moved to Carthage, Mississippi, and attended high school. She worked in the business office of Bell South Telephone for a number of years. While employed and attending school in Jackson, Mississippi, she met and married Gordon. They were longtime members and served on the founding board of Broadmeadow United Methodist Church in Jackson. She insisted that she would remain a member of her church, despite moving to Paris with her husband in 2005.
Her death will be celebrated at the graveside at Evergreen Cemetery on October 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. Family will receive friends after the funeral. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Gideons for their Memorial Bible Fund or to Lamar County Young Life.

Dewey Wayne Vanderburg, 81, of Austin, formerly of Lamar County, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 17th, at the Pavilion of Forest Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Rocky Burrow officiating. A formal visitation is not scheduled; however, family & friends may pay their respects to Mr. Vanderburg at the funeral home. Dewey Wayne was born to Dewey and Dessie Renfro Vanderburg on July 9, 1933 in Lamar County, Forest Chapel, Texas.
He leaves behind of 58 years, a loving wife, Freda Arney Vanderburg, and three sons. Michael Vanderburg of Austin, Texas, Terry Lee Vanderburg of Austin, Texas and Alan Deon Vanderburg of Paris, Texas. Two Daughters in laws, Inez, wife of Michael, and Ann, wife of Alan. Four grandchildren, which were the light of his life, Andrew, Juliana, Gracie and Rosie, four step-grandchildren, Matt Gabeline, Jeremy Gabeline, Chad Gabeline and Sarah Brumwell.
Dewey Wayne Married Freda on October 6, 1956. He attended Paris Junior College and worked during the summers at the Highway Department, District 1. At that time he joined the Air Force and served 4 years, at which time he was stationed in Japan and Wichita Falls. After an honorary discharge, he returned to the Highway Department, District 1, to complete his career with 35 years total service. He was a member of Chicota Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday School Teacher. His love for his church shown through by his dedication and service.
He was preceded in death by the following: his parents, sister- Geraldine Vanderburg Loman, Brothers, Larry Dean Vanderburg and Jimmy Lee Vanderburg. In-laws- Henry and Rosie Arney, Sister-in-laws: Henrietta Vanderburg, Phara Davis, Glenda Jean (Jeannie) Arney, Brothers-in-law: Lawrence (Buck) Arney, Von Arney and Edgar Loman and Cloyce Armstrong.
He leaves behind: one sister- Billie Ruth Vanderburg Armstrong, Four Brothers- James Robert Vanderburg, Merrell Vanderburg, Jerrell Vanderburg and Neal Vanderburg. Brother-in-laws: Lynn Arney, Nolan Arney, Billy Parson. Sisters-in-law: Nathalie Blackburn, Beth Parson, Charolette Vanderburg, Jane Vanderburg, Linda Vanderburg, and Loretha Vanderburg. He set a wonderful example of what an Uncle should be to the following: Roger, Susan, Stacy Armstrong, Vickie Jones, Valarie Vanderburg, Jennifer McEwin, Patrick Vanderburg, Tanya Bean, Misti Birch, Wesley Vanderburg, Tyler Vanderburg, Lorea Vanderburg, Christie Cook and Christopher Vanderburg, and numerous Great nieces and Great nephews.
He leaves behind a legacy that was instilled in him by his parents, dedication to God, Family, Work and Country. He will be missed greatly by his family, loves ones and friends. Everyone will miss his quick smile, kind spirit and love of talking.
