Week eight is behind us and we watched two streaks fall Friday night; one losing and one winning. Another team started off slow but ended on the right foot.
Princeton 65 Paris High 64
It was a game that was back and forth all night and you had the sense that whoever had the ball last, would win the game. It almost held true too. Paris extended their lead to 64-58 with approximately two minutes to play in the game. The ensuing kick off, however, was ran back 75 yards for a Princeton touchdown. The extra point was good, which gave them a one point advantage over the Wildcats. The loss snapped the Wildcats’ 18-game District winning streak. Next week Paris High will play at Pittsburg.
North Lamar 26 Quinlan Ford 18
North Lamar spotted Quinlan Ford 12 points in the first quarter on a muffed punt and a muffed Kick off. North Lamar got on track offensively, though, as quarterback Versache Buchanan threw three touchdown passes, two of them to Samaki Walker. Walker also had a game saving interception with 58 seconds to play in the ball game. The win snaps a two-game losing streak for the Panthers. Next week they travel to Princeton.
Prairiland 42 Dangerfield 30
The Patriots finally snapped their district drought as they knocked off Dangerfield Friday night. It’s their first District win in three years. The Patriots took control early with a 14-6 lead after the first quarter and they never looked back. Prairiland will host New Boston next Friday night.
Lone Oak 69 Chisum 33
Lone Oak jumped out to a 21 point lead over the Mustangs and Chisum tried playing catch up the rest of the night. Despite Nick Tisdale‘s 312 passing yards and three touchdowns, the Mustangs were unable to overcome the big play offense of Lone Oak. Seven of Lone Oak’s touchdowns came on plays of 20 yards or more. Chisum will host Alba Golden next Friday night.
