Charles Dooley, age 81 of Annona, went to his heavenly home on Monday, October 27th. Charles was born on February 28, 1933 in Telephone, TX to E.L. Dooley and Georgia Ellie Klieber. He retired from his position as service manager at International Harvester in Dallas and moved to Annona with his wife of 38 years, Jody Dooley. He served in the US Army, was formerly a volunteer fire fighter for Boxelder, was a member of Clarksville Country Club and was on the Lamar County Electric Coop board. Throughout his life he was an avid hunter, golfer, father, grandfather and most recently great-grandfather. Charles “Bubba” was the most well-known for his love of family, integrity, and sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Jody Dooley, his sister Edith Dooley Gates, his sister Evelyn Vanaselberg, his brother Melvin Dooley, his daughter Charlotte Dooley, his son Greg and wife Donna Dooley, his daughter Tami and husband Bobby Neff, his grandchildren: Aubrey and husband Mark Gibbs, Cody and wife Sara Estrada, Ila and husband Michael Boggs, Ethan Dooley, Kim Cross, Chris Cross, Colby Cross, Cooper Neff, and Calihan Neff, his great-grandchildren Grayson Estrada, Clara Gibbs, and Georgia Gibbs, his beloved dog Speck, and a host of loyal friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Georgia and E.L. Dooley, his first wife Janita “Ann” Davault Dooley, his son Barry Allen Dooley, his sisters Gaylene Broussard, Ruth Harrison, and Wanda Chalk, and his brothers Zelma Dooley and Donald Dooley.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 29th from 6 to 8 pm. Services will be held at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home at 2pm on Thursday, October 30th with Rev. Mike Redus officiating. Graveside to follow at Boxelder Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Funeral Detail. Pallbearers are Cody Estrada, Mark Gibbs, Michael Boggs, Ethan Dooley, Cooper Neff, Bobby Neff, Colby Cross, and Jeff Harrison.
In lieu of gifts or flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to the fire departments of Boxelder, Annona, Avery, and Clarksville, or the Boxelder Cemetery. Donald Hugh “Cotton” Parks, 78, of Blossom, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Knights of Honor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. During other times the family will be at the Greg Parks home, 11904 FM 1502.
Donald, the son of Tommy & Willie Rosson Parks, was born May 18, 1936, in Lamar County.
He graduated from Blossom High School. His career as a steel worker placing duct work in Dallas & Ft. Worth spanned more than forty years. He was a proud member of the Sheet & Metal Workers’ International Association Local Union #68.
He enjoyed watching his cattle and gardening.
His parents and two brothers, James Parks & Theron Parks, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two nephews, Brett Parks & wife Hannah and Brian Parks all of Longview along with numerous cousins and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: John Crowder, Johnny Johnson, Marvin Parks, Steve Sessums, Tim Parks and Mike Meringer.
