On Saturday, December 6th there will be a lot of activities for families ready to get into the Christmas spirit and celebrate the season.
First, on Saturday morning at 8:15am is the Reindeer Run in downtown Paris, beginning at the Courthouse. Participants receive a t-shirt and a Santa hat. In addition to the 5k race, there will also be a one-mile “fun run” for the kids. Registration begins at 7:30am. All proceeds benefit the Paris Education Foundation.
Next, head over to the Red River Valley Fairgrounds for the annual “Christmas in Fair Park.” From 9am to 4pm there will booths and exhibits from local businesses and craftsmen with holiday gifts and decorations. There will also be pictures with Santa, food concessions, live entertainment and activities for children. There is no admission or parking fee.
From 1pm-4pm there will be a Historic Churches Trolley Tour and Reception beginning at the Chamber of Commerce, located at 8 W. Plaza in downtown Paris.
Also downtown there will be a Wine Tasting from 3pm-6pm at the Carriage House, located at 21 Clarksville Street.
Finally, beginning at 6pm is the Annual Lighted Christmas Parade in downtown Paris. This year’s theme is “A Starry Night.”
Parade starts at the Court House Parking Lot, going down the West Side of the Downtown Plaza, turning left on Clarksville Street at SW Corner of Plaza, Traveling to 17th SE, then turn North on 17th SE traveling one block to Lamar Avenue where the parade will turn West on Lamar and back to the Lamar County Court House Parking Lot.
