As the North Lamar Panthers move on to the Area Round of the playoffs, baseball might be the furthest thing from the mind of their opponent. Late Sunday night, a tornado ripped through the city of Van. With the tornado, came a lot of destruction as well.
As of Monday morning, there are at least 10 people unaccounted for in the city and at least 26 people were injured by the storm. According to people in Van, two school campuses were effected and the administration building was destroyed. This along with many houses and businesses.
North Lamar coaches and parents are asking for your help in the relief efforts for the community of Van.
Rickey Richardson (owner Of Champion Motors) is going to deliver donations to Van this week. Anything you can donate will be appreciated.
They are looking for blankets, non-perishable snacks, bottled water, tooth paste, tooth brushes, etc. Also money donations are accepted and will be given to the Red Cross in Van to help with relief efforts. Last night, reports were that 50 people had to sleep in a Red Cross shelter.
