Fred was born May 24, 1934 in Paris, a son of Raymond and Helen Irene Perry Fuston. As his father Raymond was a Fireman with the Paris Fire Department, Fred grew up in the family residence at the station, and carried fond memories of those days throughout his life. He graduated from Paris High School and Paris Junior College, then obtained a degree from the College of Forestry at Stephen F. Austin University. Having worked for Coca Cola, J.C. Penney and International Paper, he began a career of thirty-two years with Southwestern Laboratories, retiring from the metallurgy division. As a youth he became an Eagle Scout, and was part of Scouting’s Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society of Boy Scouting. Fred had a keen interest in the Texas Rangers law enforcement. He was an avid student of the JFK Assassination, the stories and lore of Bonnie and Clyde, and anything pertinent to Texas. He enjoyed car races, and shopping at Canton’s First Monday Trade Days. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family.
Fred married Carolyn Singletary Morgan on April 18, 1992, in Austin, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Kim Killebrew and husband Shannon, of Tool, Texas and Karla Poggen and husband Glen of Las Vegas Nevada; a step-son, Brian Morgan, of Jersey Village, Texas; a step-daughter, Jennifer Morgan Dial, of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, John Fuston and wife Barbara, of Paris; two aunts, Mary Johnston and Katherine Jane Perry; and numerous cousins and friends.
