obituaryWanda Jean Moss, 74 of Powderly, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

Funeral services have been set for Friday, May 2, 2014 at Ramseur Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Merwin Moss, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Ben Franklin Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

She was born in Lamar County, Texas on August 16, 1939 to Sam H. and Ida Mae Chaney Cole. She married Merwin Latham Moss, Sr. on June 9, 1962 and was a member of Paris Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merwin Moss Sr.; parents, Sam and Ida Mae Cole; son, Terry Campbell; daughter, Cyndi Lowry; brother, Jerry Wayne Cole and a sister. Billie Joyce Godwin.

She is survived by her children, Merwin Latham Moss, Jr. and wife Nikki; Kim Vanderburg and husband Burnie, Melissa Dickson and husband Jason, Sherry Campbell; grandchildren, Heather Hoffman-Moss, Britney Armas, Carley Moss, Lindsay Moss, Natalie Miller, Ashlie Miller, Mandy Miller, Aaron Basinger, Eric Basinger, Chuck Lowry, Jr., Jessica Lowry, Tony Wayne, Valarie Ashley, Kenneth Sims, Jr., Ken Sims, Kristina Campbell, Alanna Vanderburg; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Sam Cole, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Wortham, Willie Hudson, Mike Marr, Timmy Hudson, Danny Walker, Mitchell Hoskins. Honorary Pallbearers are Burnie Vanderburg and Ray Poole.

Crossland0001Wilma Jean Crossland, 75, of Pattonville, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at Paris Regional Medical Center.  Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10:00 am, Friday, May 2, 2014, at Highland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Crossland was born December 6, 1938, in Gober, TX, to Edgar Haws Grissom and Lottie Lee Clower Grissom.  She married Raymond Crossland on January 4, 1958, building 56 years of family and memories.  Mrs. Crossland worked 12 years, side-by-side with her husband Raymond in their service station in Pattonville, before they closed the station and opened Crossland Garage.  At that time she became a full time homemaker and directed her attention to caring for her family.  Mrs. Crossland loved listening to country music, while working crossword puzzles.  She was also a huge NASCAR racing fan and Carl Edwards – Car #99, was her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marie and Anna Meil Dezault.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Keith Crossland of Pattonville and Thomas Crossland & wife Dawn of Pattonville; one sister, Imanell Stelce & husband Buck of Arlington; one brother, Wylie Grissom of Windom; grandchildren, Cody, Laurilyn, Evan, Erich and Beth, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
