Paris, TX – The Lamar County High School Bass Fishing Team of Ty Waggoner of North Lamar High School and Mason Hamm of Paris High School brought in a limit of five fish for a total weight of 13.83 pounds for a win at the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament at Lake O’ the Pines on October 4.  The win ensured them of a qualifying spot in the upcoming Texas High School Bass Fishing Regional Championship to be held in May of 2015.  A total of 167 teams competed in the event representing over 30 school districts in Texas.

In September the team of Waggoner and Hamm finished third at the Lake Palestine event with a total weight of 15.95 pounds and weighed in the largest bass of the tournament at 6.10 pounds. Three tournaments are left in the 2014-2015 season.  With a first and third place finish, these local anglers are in position to win the Angler of the Year title.

Competing in the THSBA tournaments gives the Lamar County team an opportunity to earn scholarships at the Regional level and at the State Championship. Last year the THSBA awarded over $13,000 in scholarships and plans to award more for the 2014-2015 tournament season.
